In September 2008, Lotus Foods Co-founder Ken Lee was invited by the
Clinton Global Initiative
to serve as a panelist in a discussion about poverty alleviation with such distinguished experts as
Madeline Albright and Rajiv Shah of the Gates Foundation (now in the Obama Administration). Lotus Foods
also made a "Commitment to Action," a unique feature of CGI membership that translates practical goals
into meaningful and measurable results. Lotus Foods' goal of introducing to the US food trade three
to five SRI-grown rices by 2012 was partially met this year.
